The Florida Medical Marijuana Use Registry is a secure, electronic, and online database for the registration of ordering MJ physicians and qualified MMJ patients. You must be added to the Medical Marijuana Registry to be able to obtain and use marijuana treatment products. Your first step in obtaining a medical card is to make an appointment with a certified medical marijuana doctor. Many MJ doctors offer a telemedicine option for appointments, so, if interested, check with your selected doctor to see if this is an option. You will want to ensure you provide the doctor with medical documentation which supports your diagnosis either before your visit or at your appointment. A doctor cannot recommend medical marijuana if you don’t have this documentation. If the doctor certifies the condition as one that enables you to use medical marijuana as a treatment, you must then apply for a Medical Marijuana Use Registry identification card. Patients who possess a physician's recommendation may legally obtain medical cannabis provided by state licensed dispensaries. A qualified physician may not issue a physician certification for more than three 70-day supply limits of marijuana. The Department of Health shall quantify by rule a daily dose amount with equivalent dose amounts for each allowable form of marijuana dispensed by a medical marijuana treatment center. Qualified patients are not permitted to possess use, or administer “marijuana in a form for smoking, in the form of commercially produced food items other than edibles, or marijuana seeds or flowers, except for flower in a sealed, tamper-proof receptacle for vaping.”

Yes. A “caregiver” means a person who is at least twenty-one (21) years old who has agreed to assist with a qualifying patient's medical use of marijuana and has qualified for and obtained a caregiver identification card issued by the Department of Health. The Department may limit the number of qualifying patients a caregiver may assist at one time and the number of caregivers that a qualifying patient may have at one time.

Once a qualified MJ patient is added to the Medical Marijuana Use Registry by their qualified MMJ physician, the patient must apply for a Medical Marijuana Use Registry Identification Card. You may do so on the Department of Health’s website. If the patient requires the medical assistance of a caregiver, the caregiver must also be added to the Registry by the patient’s qualified physician and obtain a Registry Identification Card.
