There is increasing interest amongst seniors in the potential use and benefits of medical marijuana, but many times seniors don’t know where to go or how to get started. Working with seniors for many years, this author has noticed that more recently, with the increasing number of states enacting medical marijuana laws, there has been an increased interest amongst the aging population in the  potential benefits of its use. What this signals is a couple of things. First, the stigma associated with “weed” and “pot” is changing as more states implement medical marijuana laws and evidence of its efficacy is being realized. Second, seniors aren’t satisfied with their current medication regimens and are looking for alternatives. Problem is, many don’t know where to go to get started. So the question then becomes one of access, to both doctors and dispensaries. Certainly the greatest reach is through an online directory and referral service (www.nationalmedicalmarijuanacard.com) where you will find the most up to date and comprehensive information. Many seniors have become technologically savvy, are regular users of computers, tablets, and smartphones, and can readily access information and navigate an online resource.
